The rain finally cleared and three of the opening four Junior League fixtures were played to kick off the 2024 season.
In Group A Cottingham Parks and Hull got off to winning starts. Cottingham went to Cave Castle and their new look team came away with two scalps over East Riding u18 regulars Huxley Sawyer and Tom Adcock. Tom Anderson won on the last, whilst Noa Ayala triumphed 5&4. There was a convincing consolation victory for Cave's Jack Ward who beat Ollie Spencer 5&3.
Hull matched that 4-2 result and sit top of the table on holes difference. Handsome wins for ER stalwarts Harry Mukerjea and Bobby Beasley (pictured above putting at the 13th) on debut against Freddie Rodgers and Seth Fairburn respectively left George Pepper and Will Bentley in the gathering gloom to play out the evening's tightest match. Hull's Pepper (pictured below chipping at the last) edged ahead at the 15th, but a superb Bentley finish brought him home 2up under the clubhouse lights!
In Group B, Hainsworth upset 2023 champions Hornsea with a 6-0 whitewash. The match was swithed to Brandesburton as Hornsea was closed and the new hosts took full davantage. Tom Jimmeson beat Seth Topham at the short last while Freddie Moore beat Alfred Anderson 4&3. Sister Lilly couldn't prevent a Hainsworth clean sweep as she also lost on the 18th.
Burstwick's match against Skidby was postponed due to course closure.
