ERUGC Junior Matchplay Rounds 1 & 2

Tuesday 11th August 2026
For the first time in the 29 year history of the East Riding Junior Matchplay, the four top seeds progressed through to the semi finals after the first two rounds at its ceremonial home – Hull Golf Club.

Former East Riding President Edward Clark (below 4th from left) has run the event since giving the trophy in 1997 – the year of his Presidency. He gathered the top 16 available gross scorers from last week’s ER Junior Championship by the putting green at 9am to go through the draw, with ER Junior Champion Seth Topham leading the way as top seed.

Surprisingly, not one of the dozen matches played came down the last in a day of high quality golf on a firm and bouncy Kirk Ella layout whose greens were praised by all.
