The 2022 Junior League final was held at a breezy Ganton Golf Club on Sunday 18 September.
In the first two groups, the three teams were closely matched over the challenging layout off tough white tees, but it was a best of the day 29 points from Hull's George Pepper which proved the difference in the end. Hull have now held the Rob McLeish Trophy since their first win this century in 2018.

ERUGC President John Illingworth presented the trophy to Hull Junior Captain Harry Mukerjea and the team after a wonderful meal in the historic Ganton clubhouse.
This was a fitting final after a tight group stage which saw the three qualifiers not decided until almost the last putt of the final match. Hornsea had topped the group stages, but couldn't quite continue that form at Ganton and tied with Burstwick on 69 points. Burstwick took second place on countback. Special mention to Alex Hewitson who played 18 holes in a sleeveless shirt, whilst almost every other player or spectator had four layers on and were still cold! They make them tough in Burstwick!
Early on, Hull's side looked as if they would miss the unavailable Harry Mukerjea, who plays alot of his golf at Ganton. Despite a number of lost balls early on, Harry Milner and Finn Abraham settled into their rounds and played some excellent golf to card two solid scores, before Pepper brought them home. Hull eventually ran out winners by nine points and took the trophy back to Kirk Ella for the 4th year on the trot.
Thanks to Ganton for their wonderful hospitality and to Captains, Junior Organisers (and a pro) for supporting the teams on a cold North Yorkshire day. As the President said in his speech, days like this are a great experince and are all part of the learning process. The nine competitors played the game in the right spirit and were a credit to their clubs.
