Two dramatic last hole wins as the sun set over the Westwood gave Hull the 6-0 victory they needed over Beverley to get their Group A campaign back on track.
Bobby Beasley got the evening off to a positive start with a polished performance against Beverley's Seth Fairburn. Bobby used his driver sparingly as the penalty for missing the fairways was, at best a nasty lie in the juicy rough, and at worst a lost ball. He triumphed 4&2 and then supported his teammates over the closing holes as both matches went down to the wire.
Firstly George Pepper arrived at the par 3 18th with his match all sqaure against Will Bentley. Will looked to have the upper hand as his tee shot finished on the apron and George found the left bunker. However, Will couldn't two putt from 50 feet, but 'Red Hot Pepper' (remember that headline) splashed out to five feet and calmly rolled in the putt for a 1up victory.
In the anchor match (due to a switch in playing order), Beverley's Freddie Rodgers was 3up at the turn with Hull's Harry Mukerjea a bit out of sorts on the immaculate fast greens. However, Harry fought back with a great spell of holes and a couple of Freddie lost balls in the long rough. They too stood on the 18th at all square with players and managers watching behind the green. A wayward tee shot from Freddie ended in the nettles right of the green which allowed Harry the luxury of three putts to win from the apron. [Photo: Freddie and Harry shake hands]
Maximum points hoisted Hull back up to second in the table behind Cottingham who consolidated their leadership status with a 5-1 at home to Cave Castle. Tom Anderson and Huxley Sawyer finished all square in the top match, but talented Noa Ayala took Cottingham in front with her 4&3 defeat of ER regular Tom Adcock.
Cottingham's Ollie Spencer won the bottom match against Cave's Jack Wall 2&1 to keep the daylight at the top of the group.

In Group B, it's getting tight at the top with Skidby gaining on the leaders as Hornsea and Hainsworth couldn't be separated.
James Williamson beat Ethan Matthews in top match 4&3 and Louie Brookes beat Sol Anderson on the 17th green. Archie Bean put Skidby second in the table when he completed the clean sweep with a 4&2 win over Jaiden Bell. Skidby have a game in hand, so will fancy taking the top spot when their week 1 match against the same opponents is rearranged.
On paper, the match of the night was the 'H' derby between Hornsea and Hainsworth Park. It didn't fail to disappoint. Fast improving Hornsea number one Seth Topham halved with Freddie Moore, another great young prospect from Hainsworth in the top match. Alfred Anderson lost to Tom Jimmeson 5&4, but sister Lilly won her third match on the bounce when she beat Harry Mayoh 5&3.
The Junior League takes a five week break now for exams and returns on 1 July. Seven of the eight teams can still qualify for the semi finals and are in with a chance of a run all the way to the final at Ganton on Sunday 15 September.
