Bean is early front runner in Junior Order of Merit

Archie Bean kicked off the new Junior Open season with victory at Hull Golf Club in the Geoff Jones Memorial Trophy. The event forms part of the new 2024 series where points are earned for nett finishing positions from 25 to the winner down to 6 for 11th place. All other entrants are awarded 5 points.

The concept is to promote participation in local junior opens and get youngsters used to playing away from their home clubs. Double points will be awarded for the ERUGC Junior Championship. A trophy will be awarded at the end of the season.

Archie came out on top of a 25 player field on the immaculate Kirk Ella layout with his nett 69, one clear of Cottingham Parks teammate Jack Burt. Hull's Harry Mukerjea was a shot further back in third. He was presented with the trophy by Margaret Jones, with son Ian looking on.
