President’s am-am
Cottingham Parks & Country Club
Friday 18th September 2026

The weather stayed mild for most of the round, with just a spot of rain arriving in the afternoon to keep things interesting. 2026 ERUGC President Alan Hutchinson was on hand to welcome all the teams to his home track – Cottingham Parks.

The main event was won by Cottingham Parks’ very own Andy Stone, Gavin Mennell, Michael Walls and Callum Giles with an excellent 89 points. Robert Turner, Kieran Sycamore, Tom Pearson and Keith Laidlaw from Driffield finished second on 84 points, and Gary Myers, Steve Corbett, Andy Jackson and Mark Hooper from Cottingham Larks and Skidby Lakes also carded 84 to take third.

The field was also split into two divisions by combined handicap index, with the top two teams in each taking home shop and 4-ball vouchers.

In the Low Combined Handicap flight, the Drax team of Mark Sneap, Lee Sneap, Alan Whawell and Christian Townend took the win with 83 points, with Sutton Park’s team of Phil Bullen, Michael Moor, Lindon Metcalf and Ian Bottomley close behind on 82.

The High Combined Handicap flight went to David Gray, Ron Wicks, Ian Russell and Michael Bonning from Burstwick Country Golf, on 83 points, with the Hull Golf Club team of David Monaghan, John Jackson, Harold Kaye and Richard Palmer taking second on 80.

A full listing of the scores is available on the Golf Genius app and on our ERUGC web portal.

Nearest the pin prizes, each a bottle of whisky, went to Harold Kaye (Hull GC) on the 8th, Colin Clark (Beverley & ER GC) on the 14th, and Richard Palmer (Hull GC) on the 16th.

The nearest the pin prize in 2 shots went to Stephen Roe (Sutton Park GC), whose incredible second shot to the 12th finished just an inch from the hole.

Our thanks also go to the golf clubs across the East Riding and the broader Yorkshire region who kindly donated the shop and 4-ball vouchers that made up the prize table – their continued support of ERUGC events is very much appreciated.
